# Running Bazel Builds

> Accelerate Bazel builds on Linux with ib_console.

Last updated on Oct 7, 2026

You can accelerate Bazel builds with Incredibuild Linux. You do not need to change your source code or build scripts.

Wrap your existing Bazel command with `ib_console`, as described in [Executing Your Builds Using Incredibuild Linux](/linux/execute-builds-linux).

## Prerequisites

* Incredibuild Linux is installed and your grid is available.
* Your Bazel build already completes successfully without Incredibuild.
* The Initiator meets the **Minimum local cores for build** setting in Agent Settings. Otherwise the build will not start. See [Executing Your Builds Using Incredibuild Linux](/linux/execute-builds-linux).

## Default profile

The default profile at `/opt/incredibuild/data/ib_profile.xml` marks Bazel and related sandbox helpers (including `linux-sandbox` and similar wrappers) as intercepted. You do not need a custom profile for typical Bazel projects.

If you require any profile customization, contact the Incredibuild Performance Engineering Team or Support.

## Running a build

Run a Bazel build using the `ib_console` command.

For example:

```bash theme={null}
ib_console bazel build //your/target --jobs=<N>
```

Set `<N>` to reflect your grid capacity. As with other Linux build tools, set the concurrency level about **20% higher** than the total cores available in your Incredibuild grid. See [Executing Your Builds Using Incredibuild Linux](/linux/execute-builds-linux).

It is recommended to use Build Avoidance flags such as `--avoid-user` or `--avoid-shared` when they apply to your workflow. See [Build Avoidance](/linux/build-avoidance).
