# Uninstalling Incredibuild with the Visual Studio Extension

If you installed Uninstalling You can install the Incredibuild Visual Studio Extension a few different ways.

Uninstall it from wherever you originally installed it.

Option 1: If you added in from within VS, uninstall from within VS

Option2: If you added it from within IB, use the Agent Settings (this covers options 1 and 3)

Option3: Uninstall IB as a whole, which will also remove the extension. THIS WILL NOT WORK IF YOU INSTALLED THE EXTENSION FROM WITHIN VS.

Ways to Uninstall:

* Through Visual Studio (installer > remove the checkbox)

* Through Incredibuild installer

The main thing is the way you installed Incredibuild the first time (upgrades don't matter).

Customer, in theory, should not be able to upgrade if they started in VS. However, sometimes they download the installer from our site and they can use that to upgrade.

Advice: If A, use A. If B, use B. If that doesn't work, try the other one. If that doesn't work, last resort is registry (probably shouldn't reveal this)

Internal Docs:

Registry key: Xoreax > Incredibuild > Builder. Key is VsSetup. If it is 1, that means we installed via VS. If you change this to 0, you can then use our regular installed to uninstall it.
