Understanding Build Groups

An Incredibuild Build Group allows builds to be distributed across a group of Agents. The Build Group includes Initiator Agents and Helper Agents. A single Coordinator serves all the groups.

An Agent is assigned to a single Build Group, and by default, is assigned to the Default Build Group during installation. You can assign an Agent to a different Build Group during installation, or change its Build Group assignment from the Agent machine or Coordinator Monitor.

You can view build groups for each agent in the Agent column in the Coordinator Monitor.

To see the full list of current build groups, in the Coordinator Monitor, select Agent > Build Group… or right-click on an Agent and select Build Group.
