You can install the Incredibuild Visual Studio Extension a few different ways.
When installing Incredibuild using the Incredibuild Installation Wizard, you can install the Visual Studio Extension automatically. This procedure assumes that you have already installed Visual Studio, but have not yet installed Incredibuild. You can use the installation wizard or install using the command line (silent installation).
  1. If you are installing with the installation wizard, check the Visual Studio Integration checkbox when you get to the Agent Settings screen.
  2. If you are installing using the command line silent installation, there is a flag ( /Agent:InstallAddins) to include the Visual Studio extension.
If you have already installed Incredibuild and Visual Studio, you can add the Visual Studio extension using the Incredibuild Agent Settings.
  1. Go to the Agent Settings > Visual Studio Add-In > General tab.
  2. Select your version of Visual Studio and click Install Add-In.
If you already have Visual Studio, but do not yet have Incredibuild installed, you can use this procedure during or after Visual Studio installation.This adds different version of Incredibuild depending on which version of Visual Studio you are using. We recommend updating Visual Studio first in order to get the latest version of Incredibuild:
  • Visual 2022 17.8 adds Incredibuild for Windows 10.1.11
  • Visual 2022 17.5.4 adds IB 9.6.8
  • Visual 2019 adds Incredibuild for Windows ???
  • Visual 2017 adds Incredibuild for Windows ???
This is the same procedure if you open VS Marketplace > Incredibuild online and click Get Started.
  1. Run the Visual Studio installer file (.exe).
  2. If Visual Studio is already installed, click Modify.
  3. In the Individual components tab, search for Incredibuild.
  4. Select Incredibuild - Build Acceleration and continue with the installation or modification of Visual Studio.
  5. Open any solution in Visual Studio.
  6. Go to Extensions > Incredibuild > Rebuild. This will start the Incredibuild Installation Wizard.

This procedure assumes that you have already installed Visual Studio, but have not yet installed Incredibuild. You can use Visual Studio’s extensions manager to initiate a standard installation of Incredibuild including the Visual Studio Extension. It will direct you to the standard Incredibuild installation flow.
  1. In Visual Studio, go to Extensions > Manage Extensions.
  2. Search for Incredibuild and click
  3. You will be directed to our website. Fill in your details and we will send you an email within a few minutes.
  4. You will receive an email with a link to download the Incredibuild installer as well as a license key for a free trial. Use the standard installation procedure to install Incredibuild, checking the Visual Studio Integration checkbox to include the Visual Studio Extension.
